The connection between people, environment and spirituality

In a diverse country like India, we find different cultures, religions being followed by people. Well, some have themselves taken a decision to follow a particular religion and culture, while for others it is just a practice being followed in family for generations that they have to carry forward with them. When certain groups of people share common cultures and backgrounds, they are believed to share common experiences and beliefs as well. Thus, it becomes point of commonality connecting them.

Well, some believe it is just a matter of conversation and spending time with other people is all that is required for connecting with them. Might be true in some cases. But is that always the case? Sometimes, you just literally connect with some people in a way, and wonder where have they been all your life?

It is because, you feel that they understand you more than anyone else. They know whatever is going on with your moods without you even mentioning it once. At the same time, their presence gives you a sense of familiarity that you feel with no one else. These people then become the part of your inner circle, that is, the ones you completely trust and can easily have deep connections with because you feel secure with them. These are some signs of spirituality.

Others might include asking deep questions about topics such as suffering and what happens after death, experiencing compassion and empathy for other people, experiencing feelings of awe, wonder and interconnectedness, seeking happiness beyond material possessions or other external rewards, seeking meaning and purpose, wanting to make the world a better place etc.

Not everyone experiences or expresses spirituality in the same way. Some people may seek spiritual experiences in every aspect of their lives, while others may be more likely to have these feelings under specific conditions or in certain locations. For example, some people may be more likely to have spiritual experiences in churches or other religious temples, while some might have these feelings when they out enjoying nature.

The environment here, has a major role to play. Ever thought of how you met the most special person of your life who is now your best friend/ wife/ boyfriend? Well, it might have been an accidental meeting or a common friend introducing you to them or you both just randomly started talking, and it has never ended since then.

The initial factor that decides making a particular person our friend is that we always look for something different than the usual in them. This could be the way they talk, the way they make you feel special in comparison to others, or the efforts they put to be with you etc. in some cases, all these factors contributes in proving how they are different than the other people.
